KL Saracens go in under the posts against VIOBA
Saturday 27th October
KL Saracens fielded a squad comprised predominantly of Academy players at the RSC 10s at Bukit Kiara on Saturday, in what turned out to be a very open and entertaining competition. KLS did well to secure two wins from their first two games, against Kuala Muda RC and VI Old Boys Association, before losing out narrowly to X-Rhinos Ruckers 10-12 in the final pool game. However, the two wins proved sufficient for the Saracens boys to top the group and progress to a Cup Semi-final against a Flamingo team boasting a number of the current Malaysian national team squad. The Cup semi-final was a pulsating affair, ultimately swinging on the back of a soft yellow card for KLS which Flamingo took full advantage of to score twice whilst up by a man. The final score was 5-14, but the Sarries players had given a very good account of themselves against some very talented opposition who went on to beat RSC in the final to win the Cup. The final game saw KL Saracens up against SDAR Lions RC in the 3rd and 4th place play-off, however there wasn’t much left in the tank after the Cup semi and the Lions ran out comfortable winners in the end by 19-0.
Thanks go to RSC for their warm hospitality and a great day of rugby and well done to all of the KLS players, another step forward in the development of the club.
