KL Saracens U12s competing at the Paya Rumput XVs
Three teams were in action this weekend for KL Saracens as this hot period of tournaments continues. The U16s took part in the VI XVs at Victoria Institution on Saturday and showed that the recent hard work at training is paying off with a very strong showing against some good opposition. Only the hosts, VI, were able to get the better of our boys on the day, pipping then 10-7 in a tightly contested Cup Final. The U16s now look ahead to the Melaka Rugby XVs next weekend.
Meanwhile, our U12 team was also involved in a XVs tournament on Saturday, at Paya Rumput in Melaka. Another high intensity one-day tournament saw couple of good wins for KLS against Johor and Waja Panthera, finishing the day ultimately as Plate runners-up to hosts Paya Rumput in a closely fought final game, coming out the wrong side of a 17-10 scoreline.
Finally, the Academy and Senior players had a final selection run-out ahead of the Cobra 10s on Saturday morning, playing the Cobra team recently assembled from overseas for next week’s tournament. It was a tough couple of games for KLS, but plenty was learned from the overseas pros and we look forward to meeting them again in the competition proper next Saturday at Kelana Jaya stadium.
Training was a busy affair for everybody on Sunday morning at SMK Kelana Jaya, with all teams preparing for tournaments in the next couple of weeks. Great to see so many players working hard in the hot and muddy conditions!
