Malaysian rugby legend Marc Le visits KL Saracens juniors at training on Sunday
Whilst the 1st XV enjoyed a bye-week in their Liga-KRS 2019 schedule, on Saturday 20th July the IIUM Saracens team was competing in week 2 of the KLS Founders’ Development League and managed to remain unbeaten despite stiff competition from opponents Naga, coming away with a 16-12 victory. The Founders’ league was set up in order to give emerging players in KL exposure to more game time in the full-format version of the game and have the chance to earn promotion to the next level within their respective clubs. So far the players are responding well to the challenge and enjoying the level of competition being provided by the league.
IIUM Saracens currently second in the table after Week 2
Sunday saw the U13 squad in action at SMSS for friendly fixtures with the hosts and other local rivals Victoria Institution. The KLS boys came away with one win and one loss, but very much appreciated the chance for some live rugby on what would normally have been a training day for the team.
Unfortunately for the U13s, by missing out on Sunday training, they also missed out on a visit from Malaysian rugby legend Marc Le, who came down to UPM to share some tips and tricks with the KLS youngsters and coaches. The club really appreciates Marc giving up his time to come along and inspire the next generation of Malaysian rugby greats and hope we get to see him again soon.
