Lewis Sones (Head of Coach Education & Development at Saracens UK) and Charlie Esdon (Rugby Development Coach at Saracens UK) spent the weekend of 2nd-4th March in Kuala Lumpur working with KL Saracens club coaches and players in a number of high energy education and coaching sessions.
Having landed on Friday afternoon at KLIA, the guys headed straight into town to deliver a presentation and question and answer session on Saracens’ Coaching Philosophy to a group of keen KL Saracens coaches at our Out of Africa (OoA) clubhouse on Friday evening. This was a great scene-setter for the one day “Functional Movement Preparation for Rugby” Coach Education course that was run on Saturday at UM & OoA and the full day of age group coaching sessions that followed on Sunday, also at UM.
The sessions were great fun and enjoyed by all participants, with a huge amount of new coaching ideas and philosophies shared over the three days.
Age Group coaching sessions
Lewis and Charlie will remain in Malaysia for the coming week delivering similar Coach Education sessions to National Rugby Development Programme (NRDP) coaches in Melaka & Kuala Lumpur and to international school coaches in Nilai & Bandar Estek. They will also be conducting coaching sessions for the KL Saracens Senior & Academy teams in order to ensure that every minute of their time in Malaysia is put to good use!
